Leonard

As a life long fan of Leonard Cohen, I wanted to remember him
in some way and where looking around for inspiration I came
across the stunning linocuts of forgotten people by Neil Shrigley,
and this on a small scale was my first attempt at something similar.

This was my first linocut portrait, and I am still working out the
technique, but when I showed it to a few friends they all wanted
a copy – so I am happy.

I drew the image directly from my iPad and cutting it listening to Leonard.

I am printing a limited edition in blue called ‘Blue Leonard’ and
this will be shortly available on Etsy – The limited edition black
ones have gone.

The process got me thinking – I should do a number of other
portraits the same size, based on my heroes – the next one in
production is Woody Allen – call back to see the others join
them over the next few weeks.

i have just ordered some larger sections of lino and will also
work on some bigger, more detailed versions.
