Keith Richards

 

Keith Richards makes a great subject for a lino print, all those lines on his face.

 

The image is 200mm high and 150mm wide, I start with a photo import this into photoshop and play around with the colour, brightness, contrast and polarize the final selection.

 

I trace over this image and then using the trace as a starting point draw over the trace – depending on the lino the trace is hardly there.
I dont like to define much more than these guide lines and then start cutting, I tried out using a red wash over the pen work for the first time and think in future I will adopt this technique as it is easier to see what you have cut.
